
Makyla Stanley-Hamilton
Makyla Stanley is Charleston, SC Native. She began running track in 7th grade after being discovered on the basketball court. As an 8th grader, Makyla was the #1 Middle School runner in the state of South Carolina. During her high school years, Makyla was no stranger to success. Makyla is a 6x SC State Champion, 2x SC Female Athlete of the Year, 2015 SC Miss Track Recipient, 2015 Post & Courier Female Athlete of the year, 2015 US High School All American, 13x CCSD Champion, and 15x Region Champion. Makyla currently holds the 100m and Triple Jump School Records at James Island High School.
The Story Continues..
After high school, Makyla attended the University of South Carolina on a Track and Field Scholarship. While in college, Makyla competed in the Long Jump, 100m dash, and 4x1oo relay. In 2018, Makyla anchored the 4x100m relay team at the National Championship in Eugene, Oregon earning her first NCAA All-American honor. In 2019, Makyla earned 2nd at the prestigious 125th Penn Relays in the Long Jump and 4x100m. During her senior year, Makyla advanced to the NCAA East Regional Championship after running her personal best 100m mark of 11.43.

Academically, Makyla earned 2019 SEC Academic Honor Roll Award. Makyla graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2019 earning a Bachelors in Psychology. Makyla later went on to graduate with her ED.S in School Psychology from The Citadel in 2024. In 2023, Makyla was inducted into the James Island Charter HIgh School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Makyla is currently a Charleston County School Psychologist and Assistant Track coach at JI.
